A Summer Engagement Session with Brittany & Dustin | Columbus, GA

July 17, 2024, was a day filled with unexpected twists, quick thinking, and a lot of craziness—all ingredients for a memorable summer engagement session! Brittany and Dustin, our charming couple, had been looking forward to capturing their love story, but the universe had a few surprises in store for us.

Nails, Curls, and a Beauty Emergency

The day began with a little nail drama. Brittany’s manicure wasn’t picture-perfect to say the least, and she had to call in some last-minute nail rescue! Big thanks to Kay Kay at The Polish Prodigy, who apparently not only specializes in gorgeous nails but also is an expert in totally saving the day!

But, the real kicker came when Brittany realized her hair and makeup appointment was scheduled for the wrong day. Big thanks to the stylists at Fringe for working with her to get someone to work on Brittany's hair. Unfortunately, the summer humidity had other plans, and by the time she was ready to head to location, those curls were gone with the wind.

With the makeup artist she originally booked unavailable, Brittany bravely decided to take matters into her own hands—literally. A quick detour led us to an impromptu hair-curling session to get some waves back while Brittany did her makeup, with me playing hairstylist for a few minutes. Brittany took it all in stride, and we got her looking picture-perfect for her summer engagement session.

A Change of Plans and a Dash of Romance

The original plan was to shoot at Flat Rock Park (just like Brandon & Abby!), but time was not on our side. With the sun threatening to set before we could reach our destination, we made a last-minute decision to start at the Georgia Visitor Information Center. It turned out to be a happy accident—the vibrant sunset and lush greenery provided a gorgeous backdrop, and Brittany and Dustin’s love shone through every frame.

SUNSET AND HAPPY ENDINGS

Despite the day’s earlier challenges, we were rewarded with a stunning teal and pink sunset. The earlier rain had left the air thick and humid, but it also created a magical sky that made the perfect backdrop for our shots.

As the sun dipped below the horizon, Brittany and Dustin stood hand in hand, the day's hiccups melting away, leaving only love, laughter, and a soon-to-be happily ever after.

Columbus Chili’s and Cherished Memories

The next stop for our summer engagement session was a special one: the Columbus, GA Chili’s. This wasn’t just any restaurant; it was where Brittany and Dustin had their first date and, in a charming twist of fate, where they both now work. The staff was fantastic, letting us capture some adorable shots of the couple in the very place where their love story began. The setting added a unique and personal touch to their engagement photos, blending nostalgia with the excitement of their upcoming wedding- and who doesn't love MARGARITAS!

Your Southeast Engagement photographer

This summer engagement session was a testament to the unpredictable nature of life and the beauty that comes from embracing every moment. Brittany and Dustin showed us all that sometimes, the best memories are made when things don’t go exactly as planned. Here’s to their journey ahead, and I can't wait to be their wedding photographer!

Testimonial

Jacquelyn is an absolute master of her craft. After what seemed like a million things went wrong the day of the shoot, she went above and beyond to ease my stress and make sure the pictures didn't show any of that stress, while giving advice and testimonials from her own big day. I realized that sometimes things don't go as planned, and that's ok, they can still work out. It's clear this isn't just a job to her, it's her passion. I will never go anywhere else for photography, she's made a client for life.
